Assault Android Cactus

My Greatest Achievement

While the toughest achievements in this game aren't particularly easy, none of them took me more than an hour each of focused grinding. None of them, except for one

Assault Android Awesome
Earn an S+ ranking on all campaign levels
1.1% of players have this achievement

To get into why this achievement is so much harder than the others, you mostly just need to know the rules that you must follow in order to get an S+

1. You can not get knocked down

Pretty self explanatory, if you lose all 5* of your health points you will be knocked down. If this happens, your weapon power will be reset to 1 and you will have to mash to get back up. If you get knocked down in any of the bullet-hell/hoard-fighting stages (some of which kindly included QUICK MAN LASERS), or equally bullet-hellish boss encounters, you will instantly lose you chance at an S+ rank. This will be notified by a loud ass glass shattering noise, and will probably be followed quickly by a press of the quick restart button.
*your health is increased to 6 if you are currently using a speed power up, allowing you to survive the ordinarily deadly 5 damage bullet type

2. You must keep your combo for the entire duration of the stage

This is the real ball buster. Once you kill an enemy, a combo chain will begin signified at the top left of the screen. For the rest of the stage, any break between kills longer than 2.5 seconds will instantly end you combo. Because the game spawns enemies in waves, it's not uncommon to kill 10 or so enemies pretty fast, and then have like 2 guys hiding behind a wall that you can't reach in the alotted time. It's also pretty easy to make the mistake of killing all the little guys first, then aiming for the larger target, only to realize there is absolutely no way to kill the dude in time. Both of these scenarios popped up enough for me that I eventually went through the trouble of memorizing enemy waves so I could optimally save as many small enemies as backups to keep the combo going.

The combination of these two factors means that you will constantly be switching between playing it safe (holding on for dear life to that last health pip), and aggresively rushing across the stage after realizing you are about to drop the combo and there's a fly hiding behind a barrier you didn't kill. Of my 70 hours of play time, I'd say at least 40 were dedicated to getting S+ ranks on every stage for this achievement.
